Wow. That went into more detail than I was expecting. Next coming up - Fleshing out the civilians!
I'm a friend of Martians IRL and I used to have a Nationstates, but it wouldn't log in and so I gave up. I have remade one mainly for this RP and such, Nationstates is just like a Democracy 3 Lite to me.
'm Nudonian, would have preferred to be Nudonia but damned name-takers always catch me. Autumnia is another friend, and both of those names come from out D&D game, and those names come from various games/shows.
Anyway, I RP a lot, forum, game or D&D. I have been wanted to join a game along these lines, like a Civilization RP. Most of them are awful, so at least I have some hope in my friend.
If he starts to fail something major, I can just give him a disapproving look. Should fix things right up.

Sweet. I love D&D. I even have a game of Civ 5 currently running, as well. I hope this RP goes well. This should be enough people to start with considering the landmass isn't that much.

That's cool. And just to clear up, as both a GM and a player, are you going to be running "chat-reply" turns?
For example, I post "I send my fisherman to search the cove for fish" and I have to wait for the reply "They get eaten by giant sharks" before I make my next move? Or how is this working? It's just that I see in a lot of these people rushing and going "I do this this this this this this this this AND I OWN EVERYTHING" before anyone else has even woken up.

Holy crap! I was reading through all of the states again, and I saw Hogwarts:
Army: blah blah blah blah 20 BATTLESHIPS blah blah
... Now, I don't know if you know how big a battleship is, but 20 battleships is enough to wipe out the entire planet from just bombardment. She would just sit on the shores with her big-fuck-off cannons and win. I have ONE destroyer. I don't think 20 battleships is all that fair.

Jaslandia also has 20 battleships. Just to clear it up, a battleship is a massive ship armed with massive artillery like cannons capable of bombing a city into submission. 20 of them is bloody insane.

Is 10 destroyers and 5 battleships more realistic? It'd probably say 3-5 destroyers and 1 battleship, as battleships are rather bloody big. They are you capital ship, your admiral's pride and joy. And they will devastate pretty much anything you point them out, and can even land troops. I know I'm not the GM, but believe me, more than 1 battleship without good reason (Like all of your military is navy based) is probably a bit OP. As for destroyers, that makes more sense. 3-5 if you are normal navy, 1 if small and 5-10 if you are navy based. They aren't as strong and tough as battleships, but are a bit more versatile than them.

Sounds good, nice to have a water nation! I personally have a small amount of ships, but I will probably be sticking to my cove.

I am sitting with martian tribes trying to figure out how to get the Dropship started. I can't wait to get to the Colony Ship and try to figure out how to activate the air-lock.

I've got food. Literally. Just salt and wheat. Whoo. Wtf was I thinking. At least my area looks nice on the map. But Vladovaskia has a huge military (mandatory service). We're kind of a moderately future tech, an island on Earth (so a good bit of ships), and a good bit of air power. We've got mainly one spaceship that's basically our equivalent of the NSA, CIA, and Pentagon all smashed into a larger version of the International Space Station. Plenty of small transport ships to get troops and vehicles back and forth, too though. I'm going to try and stay away from war this time and stick to resources and trading, but eventually I'll probably succumb to my primal urge to destroy everything and be king of the apocalyptic wasteland.
